Ladakh redirects glacier water to support local farming

Ladakh has launched a project to channel 90 million litres of glacier water every day to 12 different villages for agricultural use. Rather than building a large dam, local authorities decided to capture a portion of the water that previously drained into the Indus River and reroute it into current irrigation channels. This water supply originates from the Stok Kangri Glacier.
