Survivors of the blaze at Kolkata's Shikha Inn, which resulted in nine deaths, reported that the property featured just a single point for entering and exiting, with no emergency escapes available. Guest Amirul Hossain stated that the premises lacked both fire alarms and firefighting equipment. Fire Department Minister Kaushik Chowdhury noted that the hotel's management failed to follow essential construction and safety regulations.
