Karnataka's tobacco ban: Will it impact cigarettes?

The Karnataka government has prohibited the production, stocking, supply, and retail of tobacco or nicotine-based goods, but this rule excludes cigarettes. Since the directive was released under food safety laws, it specifically targets gutkha and pan masala, which are classified as food items. Cigarettes and various smoking products fall under different regulations governed by COTPA.
