Karnataka could be forced to release extra Cauvery water
Karnataka might have to discharge a higher volume of Cauvery water than what the CWRC mandated. This is because of water loss occurring through dry riverbeds, groundwater seepage, and channel transit issues before the flow hits Biligundlu. Given the weak monsoon, low reservoir levels, and lack of rainfall, experts suggest the state may need to release between 6,000 and 7,000 cusecs every day from the Kabini and KRS dams.
