Jodie Foster the python is the first snake to undergo human cancer therapy
A 15-foot-long python, who shares a name with actress Jodie Foster, has made history as the first snake to undergo electrochemotherapy, a procedure typically used for humans. The 23-year-old animal, housed at Chester Zoo, was suffering from a persistent tumour in her jaw. Veterinary staff successfully excised the growth along with a section of the affected bone, followed by the specialized treatment. The snake has since recovered and is able to hunt, hold, and consume prey without difficulty, showing no indications that the cancer has come back.
