J&K woman launches dairy business with state support, produces GI-certified Kaladi

Nisha Devi, a resident of Kotli Bala village in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, has transitioned from a homemaker to a successful dairy business owner by leveraging government welfare programs. With the help of a ₹7 lakh subsidy, she initially purchased 14 cows and has since expanded her herd to include 20-25 Sahiwal cows, a breed known for high milk production. Her dairy farm currently yields more than 100 litres of milk every day, in addition to manufacturing desi ghee and GI-tagged Kaladi cheese.
