Jiya Rai creates history as first female para-swimmer to earn Triple Crown

Indian para-swimmer Jiya Rai has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female para-athlete to finish the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. The 18-year-old, who lives with Autism Spectrum Disorder, reached this goal on Sunday by successfully finishing the 48-km solo 20 Bridges Swim around Manhattan in New York. Her journey to this achievement included swimming across the English Channel in 2024 and the Catalina Channel in 2025.
