Jharkhand man swindled out of ₹1.2 crore wedding savings in 'digital arrest' fraud

A resident of Sahibganj, Jharkhand, reportedly fell victim to a cyber scam, losing ₹1.20 crore after fraudsters pretending to be CBI officials held him under 'digital arrest' for almost two months. The victim, identified as Gautam Chandra Das, informed the authorities that the funds were intended for his daughter's upcoming wedding. According to his statement, the scammers maintained constant video surveillance over him and even orchestrated a simulated virtual court proceeding.
