Jaishankar pledges seafarer protection during UNSC bid launch
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has stated that India will make the safety of sailors a top priority as the nation kicks off its campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council. He emphasized that India is committed to ensuring that matters concerning a free, open, and rules-governed maritime environment receive proper focus. This comes as the ongoing conflict in West Asia has resulted in the deaths of at least 14 Indian nationals following attacks on vessels.
