Jaipur monkeys suffer from skin condition due to sugary human food
Monkeys residing at the Galtaji temple in Jaipur are battling hyperkeratosis, a skin ailment that leads to hair loss, painful cracks, bleeding, and mobility issues, according to experts. Wildlife veterinarian Ashok Tanwar noted that the disease is primarily caused by tourists feeding the animals sweets. He explained that this shift in their diet causes their skin to dry out, eventually resulting in severe cracking.
