Isle of Man spinner, 51, sets record as oldest player to claim five wickets in an international match

Joanne Hicks, a 51-year-old off-spinner representing the Isle of Man, has set a new record as the oldest cricketer of any gender to secure a five-wicket haul in international play. During the Women’s Continental Cup, she delivered a spell of 5/10 across four overs, helping to bowl Greece out for just 52 runs. With this performance, Hicks surpassed the previous record established by Australian cricketer Herbert Ironmonger, who was 49 years and 311 days old when he reached the milestone back in 1932.
