IPS officer held for demanding ₹3 crore bribe to influence CBI drug racket probe
The CBI has taken IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat into custody regarding the ₹5,000-crore fake medicine scam in Puducherry. According to officials, Gahlawat allegedly asked the primary suspect for ₹3 crore, promising to use his internal connections to secure relief in the CBI investigation; he had reportedly already collected ₹1 crore. Previously, the agency had apprehended a Delhi Police inspector along with six other individuals involved in the case.
