Indian researchers create tougher concrete by incorporating treated human waste
A team of scientists in India has successfully produced a novel concrete mixture by utilizing treated human waste, resulting in a product that is notably more durable than standard concrete. Experts at Manipal University Jaipur substituted 5%, 10%, and 15% of the cement content with biochar derived from waste. Following a 91-day testing period, the concrete containing 10% biochar demonstrated a 21% improvement in compressive strength, along with a flexural strength increase of up to 42%.
