India starts first direct cargo train service to Nepal

In a major milestone, India has begun its first direct commercial container freight train service to Nepal. The train, which consists of 40 wagons, transported a shipment of canola. This new route allows cargo to travel directly by rail from Kolkata to Biratnagar, eliminating the need to transfer goods at the border. According to the Northeast Frontier Railway, this development will greatly decrease transit times and logistics expenses, while also boosting overall trade efficiency.
