India saw 25 government schools shut down daily for 10 years: Report
A report by NITI Aayog reveals that approximately 94,000 government-run schools were shuttered across the country over the last ten years, which works out to about 25 closures each day. The total count dropped from 11.07 lakh in 2014-15 to 10.13 lakh by 2024-25, alongside a decrease in student enrollment by 2.26 crore. In contrast, the count of private schools rose from 2.88 lakh to 3.39 lakh throughout the same timeframe.
