India plans to replace $51 billion in imports with local goods: Report

According to a Reuters report citing government officials, the Centre has pinpointed essential imports valued at $51 billion that it aims to substitute with locally manufactured alternatives. An internal government review revealed that out of the $775 billion in goods imported by India between March 2025 and 2026, roughly $398 billion worth could be produced within the country. These items span various sectors, including solar panels and textiles.
