India leads global rankings for unpaid labor, report reveals

According to the ADP People at Work 2026 study, 24% of employees in India dedicate over 16 hours every week to unpaid tasks, marking the highest rate in the world. Additionally, 40% of workers put in between 6 and 15 hours of unpaid labor weekly. On a global scale, just 12% of workers log 16 or more unpaid hours. The findings indicate that increased unpaid work time is linked to higher stress levels, diminished wellbeing, lower feelings of productivity, and a stronger desire to switch employers.
