India joins US and China as third nation to launch private orbital rocket
On Saturday, India reached a major milestone by becoming the third nation, following the US and China, to successfully conduct a private orbital launch. This feat was achieved with the Vikram-1, which is the country’s first privately developed orbital rocket, created by the space startup Skyroot Aerospace. The vehicle took off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and successfully placed its payload into a 450-km orbit.
