The Defence Ministry has finalized a ₹1,943-crore agreement with the American company General Atomics to lease a pair of MQ-9B Sea Guardian drones for the Indian Navy over a 30-month period. These unmanned aerial vehicles feature advanced sensors and high-tech payloads, capable of remaining airborne for more than 30 hours at a time. This acquisition is set to strengthen India's surveillance and response capabilities throughout the Indian Ocean Region.
