India hikes export taxes on diesel and jet fuel by ₹7 per litre, reduces petrol levy

The Indian government has increased windfall taxes on diesel and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) exports by ₹7 per litre each, following a spike in energy prices caused by rising tensions in West Asia and the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz. The duty on diesel has been raised from ₹8.5 to ₹15.5 per litre, while the tax on ATF has gone up from ₹7.5 to ₹14.5 per litre. Conversely, the export duty on petrol has been lowered from ₹4 to ₹2.5 per litre, with the new rates taking effect this Thursday.
