India constructs its inaugural rock dam in Ladakh as Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan remains stalled

As the Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan stays in a state of suspension, farmers across regions of Leh are poised to receive improved irrigation access. This follows India’s completion of its first rock check dam on the Indus River, located at Upshi in Leh. By utilizing natural boulders rather than cement, the project has successfully raised the local water level by 10 feet.
