IIT Guwahati creates 'E-Eye' to spot toxic heavy metals in water
Researchers at IIT Guwahati have built a portable optical sensor called 'E-Eye' capable of providing immediate detection of heavy metals like arsenic, lead, fluoride, and chromium, as well as E. coli in water. Each test costs about ₹2, and the device is also capable of checking soil and food samples. It serves as an affordable tool for monitoring water quality under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with the device itself priced at roughly ₹3,500.
