How Shilpa Shyla secured a Commonwealth Games bronze medal after placing fourth
At the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Indian athlete Shilpa K Shyla ended the women's shot put F57 final in fourth place, recording a personal best of 7.26 meters. Nigeria's Eucharia Iyiazi was initially awarded the bronze medal following an 8.19-meter throw. However, the Indian team challenged the validity of that attempt. Upon review, officials declared the throw a foul. Because Iyiazi had no other successful marks on record, Shyla was elevated to the third-place position.
