How is property inherited when someone passes away intestate?

According to the Hindu Succession Act of 1956, when a man dies without leaving a Will, his assets are first transferred to Class I legal heirs. This group consists of his mother, widow, daughter, and son, along with others. In the event that no Class I heirs are alive, the estate is then distributed among Class II heirs, a category that includes the deceased's siblings and father, among others.
