Himachal Pradesh ranks as India's second most literate state with 99.55% rate
Under the ULLAS-New India Literacy Programme, Himachal Pradesh has reached a literacy milestone of 99.55%, earning a national award on International Literacy Day. This marks an improvement from the 99.3% rate recorded in 2025, the year the state was first declared fully literate. Currently, Himachal stands as the nation's second most literate state, trailing only Goa, which holds a 99.7% rate. Education Minister Rohit Thakur accepted the recognition on behalf of the state.
