Govt tells SC: Incorrect to doubt PM's commitment to democracy in CEC selection

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, informed the Supreme Court that it is unfair to presume the Prime Minister and the Union Minister would fail to uphold democratic values simply because they hold a numerical advantage on the Chief Election Commissioner selection committee. The panel currently consists of PM Modi, a Cabinet Minister, and the Leader of the Opposition.
