Govt mandates clean fuel options at one-third of petrol pumps in 3 years

The government has issued a directive requiring at least one out of every three fuel stations to provide alternative fuel options within three years of starting operations. These alternatives include LNG, CNG, battery swapping, EV charging, and biofuels. Current fuel stations are required to submit details regarding their clean energy facilities within a month and must rectify any gaps within the next six months. Failure to comply with these rules could result in a penalty of up to ₹10 lakh for each outlet.
