Government shuts down over 4,900 Telegram channels over movie piracy
The central government has directed intermediaries to take down 7,393 URLs, which includes 4,996 Telegram channels and 1,263 websites, for sharing or hosting pirated movies. Officials stated that they have bolstered legal measures to stop the illegal recording and online distribution of films via the Cinematograph (Amendment) Act, 2023.
