The government has officially launched the Semicon 2.0 scheme, backed by a budget of ₹1.27 lakh crore, aimed at strengthening the local semiconductor industry. This plan, which received approval on July 15, includes a 40% financial incentive for silicon fabrication units and a 35% subsidy for various other facilities, such as display, compound, and specialized fabs. Additionally, the program extends support to qualifying companies and startups through equity co-investments, grants, and royalty-based financing.
