Government clears ₹10,021 crore railway expansion plan for four states
The Union Cabinet has given the green light to five railway multi-tracking initiatives totaling ₹10,021 crore. These projects span approximately 540 km and will benefit Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. Once finished, the network will link 2,121 villages, boost annual freight capacity by roughly 47 million tonnes, reduce traffic bottlenecks, and enhance travel options for passengers. The work is expected to be wrapped up by the 2029-30 fiscal year.
