GoDaddy warns India's anti-fake site policy may harm genuine businesses
GoDaddy, the world's largest domain registrar, has cautioned that India's recent efforts to combat fraudulent websites might inadvertently decrease online security for authentic companies. This development comes after a court mandate ordered the shutdown of more than 1,100 bogus sites. The ruling also compels domain registrars to remove standard privacy protections and provide owner information to authorized parties within a 72-hour window. In response, GoDaddy has filed a legal challenge against these requirements in the Delhi High Court.
