Global report: Seniors now outnumber children under five

According to the US Census Bureau, the global population of individuals aged 65 and older has surpassed the number of children under five for the first time ever. Projections indicate that by 2060, the senior population will hit 2 billion, accounting for one out of every five people on Earth. This demographic change is fueled by increasing life spans and falling birth rates, with 71% of the world currently experiencing fertility levels below what is needed to maintain population size.
