FSSAI mulls restricting HFSS food sales near school premises
The FSSAI is looking into prohibiting the sale of foods containing high levels of fat, sugar, and salt (HFSS) within a 50-metre radius of schools to encourage better dietary choices among children, according to CEO Rajit Punhani. He explained that the initiative will integrate regulatory measures with consumer awareness and behavioral prompts for students. Furthermore, the government is prioritizing preventive healthcare strategies to lower the impact of chronic diseases in the future.
