FSSAI fines Adani Wilmar over Vitamin D deficiency in sunflower oil
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has imposed a penalty on Adani Wilmar Limited (AWL), the manufacturer of Fortune oil, following a quality failure in its Fryola refined sunflower seed oil. The product was flagged as substandard after a sample taken from a resort in Goa showed levels of Vitamin A and D that fell short of official requirements. A subsequent analysis by a referral lab verified that the Vitamin D content was well below the mandatory threshold. The specific financial penalty levied by the FSSAI has not been made public.
