France achieves rare World Cup scoring milestone after 24 years
Following their goals against Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals, Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé have helped France become the first nation in 24 years to feature two players who have each netted at least five goals in one tournament. Mbappé currently has eight goals to his name, while Dembélé has reached five. The last time this occurred was in 2002, when Brazil's Rivaldo scored five goals and Ronaldo Nazário recorded eight.
