Former Google engineer sentenced to one year in US prison for AI theft
Linwei Ding, a Chinese citizen and former Google software engineer, has been handed a one-year prison sentence in the US for misappropriating artificial intelligence trade secrets. Ding joined the company in 2019 and was caught stealing proprietary documents to support his own business ventures in China. During his time away, he even had an intern use his Google security badge to create the false impression that he was present at the office.
