Fitch identifies AI-driven market correction as a significant global credit threat
Fitch Ratings has cautioned that the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence and the potential for a market downturn are becoming significant risks to global credit. The agency noted that S&P 500 valuations are approaching levels seen during the dotcom bubble. Meanwhile, US corporate bond issuance climbed by 26% during the first half of 2026, primarily fueled by companies raising capital for AI projects. Major firms including Amazon, Alphabet, Nvidia, Meta, Oracle, and SpaceX collectively issued $182 billion in investment-grade bonds.
