Famed climber Nirmal Purja and 9 others missing following avalanche on Pakistan's Broad Peak
Celebrated mountaineer Nirmal Purja is one of 10 climbers who went missing after an avalanche hit the 8,047-metre Broad Peak in Pakistan on Thursday. According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan, the group of international climbers has not been heard from since the disaster occurred. The team consists of individuals from the United States, China, Oman, and Pakistan. Prior to the expedition, Purja had noted that Broad Peak was not originally part of his climbing schedule.
