Fadnavis and Chidambaram clash over women's quota legislation
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hit back at Congress MP P Chidambaram, accusing him of having a selective memory following his criticism of Fadnavis' comments on the women's reservation bill. Fadnavis explained that the 2023 legislation mandates that both a Census and a delimitation process must be completed before it can be put into effect. He further alleged that the Congress party had previously blocked a 2026 initiative designed to facilitate the implementation of the quota by 2029. Chidambaram had earlier pointed to the fact that Parliament successfully passed the 33% reservation law in 2023.
