Ex-Army Captain restores 14 Bengaluru lakes by following 1923 maps
Captain Santosh Kumar, a retired Army officer, utilized British-era maps dating back to 1923 to locate Bengaluru's lost Raja Kaluves, which are historic channels that once directed rainwater between lakes. He discovered that many of these waterways had dried up due to illegal encroachment, which blocked water from reaching the lakes. By collaborating with local residents and government officials, he successfully cleared the channels and helped bring 14 lakes back to life.
