EU to transfer $1.6 billion in Russian asset interest to Ukraine
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced that the European Union will send $1.6 billion to Ukraine, funded by interest generated from frozen Russian central bank assets. She stated that these funds will assist Ukraine in its ongoing defense against Russia’s unlawful invasion. This development follows reports from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that a recent Russian strike on Kyiv resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals.
