According to Dr. Reji Mathai, Director of the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), vehicles powered by E20 fuel demonstrated a 2% to 6% improvement in fuel efficiency when compared to E10 fuel during controlled testing. These evaluations were carried out in a temperature-regulated lab setting, utilizing chassis dynamometers to specifically determine the fuel's performance. The research was a collaborative effort between ARAI and various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
