DRI recovers gold worth ₹1 crore from family at Karipur airport
Officials from the DRI confiscated approximately 1 kg of gold, valued at ₹1 crore, from a family traveling through Calicut International Airport. Reports indicate that about 500 grams of the precious metal were stashed inside the diaper of an eight-month-old baby, while the remaining gold was hidden on the father. The family, who hails from Ponnani, had just landed on a flight from Ras Al Khaimah. Authorities noted that the child's mother had previously been taken into custody at Cochin airport for a similar gold smuggling attempt.
