DMK seeks Parliament debate on Mekedatu; DK Shivakumar claims project helps Tamil Nadu
The DMK has submitted adjournment motions in both chambers of Parliament to address Karnataka's planned Mekedatu dam. In response, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated that the initiative would actually serve the interests of Tamil Nadu rather than Karnataka. This project remains a point of contention between the two states, involving a proposed ₹9,000-crore balancing reservoir on the Cauvery River.
