Ro Khanna, a Democratic member of the US Congress of Indian descent, was held by armed Israeli settlers while visiting the West Bank. Since 2017, he has served as the representative for California's 17th district in the House of Representatives. Born on September 13, 1976, in Philadelphia, Khanna is the son of Indian immigrants from a Punjabi Hindu background. He is a graduate of Yale Law School.
