Delhi teacher who began career at ₹60/day to receive National Teachers Award

Suman Goel, an educator at a government school in Rohini, Delhi, has been named a recipient of the National Teachers Awards 2026. She initially entered the profession earning just ₹60 daily. Goel began teaching to fund her BA studies at Lakshmibai College after facing money troubles. Today, she focuses on educating students who are largely the first in their families to attend school.
