Counterfeit notes worth ₹7.40 crore swapped for real cash at PNB in UP

A regular inspection of cash dispatched to the RBI from a Punjab National Bank (PNB) currency chest in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, revealed a deficit of ₹4.36 lakh. Following this, a detailed audit detected counterfeit currency amounting to approximately ₹7.40 crore. In response, the management of PNB has suspended four employees over the incident. Additionally, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against three individuals.
