Congress to fight 130th Constitution Amendment Bill proposing removal of arrested PM and CMs
The Congress party has announced it will challenge the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill in Parliament. This proposed law suggests that Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, and other ministers should be removed from office if they are held in custody or arrested for 30 days straight due to criminal charges. Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh described the bill as a tool for the "political harassment" of rivals, adding that the government lacks the two-thirds majority required to pass it.
