Chinese tech giants shed more than 1 lakh jobs in 18 months
A report from the Daily Mirror indicates that major Chinese internet companies have cut more than 1,30,000 staff members within the last year and a half. Significant workforce reductions have been implemented by firms including Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, Baidu, and JD.com, with some businesses cutting their staff numbers by as much as 40%. These job losses are being attributed to the increasing integration of AI-powered coding tools in professional settings.
