Chinese apps used to remotely disable e-rickshaws, hitting driver earnings
E-rickshaw operators in Delhi are reporting a significant drop in daily earnings, with some seeing their income slide from ₹1,000 to ₹600. This decline is linked to pranksters utilizing Bluetooth-based Chinese applications to remotely shut down vehicle batteries. Drivers reported that individuals have demanded payments between ₹200 and ₹500 to get their stalled rickshaws running again, with one instance even involving a request for a beer. In response, the central government has directed Apple and Google to remove seven of these problematic apps.
